Digital and offset – a good combination

At the SFN Forum on Digital Printing Strategies Dario de Cian, General Manager of the Italian newspaper printing centre CSQ, shares his experiences with a digital inkjet press that is used (for about seven months now) in parallel with the company’s offset presses to produce hyper-local inserts for the daily newspaper.

The Centro Stampa Quotidiani is mainly an offset newspaper printer. “The markets are changing und today we have to work more to gain the same – or sometimes less,” says De Cian. The HP T230 digital press is not meant to replace but to complement the offset equipment. According to De Cian, the turnover share of digital printing at the CSQ today is about 2%, but he is sure this will grow with time.

The case study of Centro Stampa Quotidiani is also included in the new SFN Report on “Digital printing for newspapers“.
