Five Prizes for Innovation Excellence Awarded to Young European Talent in News

2020-10-15. The Stars4Media consortium presented yesterday the projects developed under its European exchange and training initiative for young news media professionals launched last Spring. More than 100 young news media professionals coming from 42 news organisations in 17 countries participated in the one-year long programme. Twenty-one projects were presented yesterday during a conference held in Brussels at Europe’s Media Lab, Fondation EURACTIV. Five teams were awarded for the outstanding quality of their work.

The award recognises “Ms Bedoya Lima’s dedication to the profession of journalism, her tireless work in promoting and protecting the rights of women, and her courage in confronting and overcoming her own personal tragedy with a level of dignity and determination that serves as an inspiration to peers the world over.”

Strong Nordic performance as WAN-IFRA European Digital Media Awards announced

2020-04-23. The winners of the WAN-IFRA European Digital Media Awards were announced on Thursday, 23 April – with 7 out of 9 coming from Denmark, Norway or Sweden. The Coronavirus crisis has made these projects more relevant than ever – not least in the category of Best Paid Content Strategy, as almost all publishers see a sharp rise in digital subscriptions. While Sweden’s Expressen won the judges’ vote, this was the first year we launched a Members’ Choice Awards. In a close battle of live-streamed presentations from the finalists, Gazeta Wyborcza won the popular vote.
