Women in News Launches Social Impact Reporting Initiative For Climate Crisis Coverage

2021-09-21. In recognition of World News Day and its accompanying theme of telling the story of the Climate Crisis, WAN-IFRA Women in News has announced a special edition of its Social Impact Reporting Initiative (SIRI) Individual Assignments. It is inviting women journalists, who have engaged with WAN-IFRA Women in News since 2010, to apply for an assignment grant to tell the story of how climate change is affecting vulnerable and at-risk groups in their communities.

WAN-IFRA’s World News Media Congress goes virtual and announces new dates in 2021

2021-09-20. WAN-IFRA will hold the World News Media Congress as a virtual event from 29 November to 2 December 2021. The 2022 World News Media Congress will be held in Zaragoza, Spain. Taipei – the initially planned venue for this year’s Congress – will now host the event in June 2023.

New lab will help 21 news organisations from Latin America boost their digital advertising revenue

2021-09-09. Twenty-one news organisations across Brazil and Spanish-speaking Latin America have been selected to participate in the 2021 GNI Latin America Advertising Revenue Lab.

Eight news organisations will participate in the new WAN-IFRA business innovation programme in Latin America 

2021-09-08. News organisations from Colombia, Mexico, Panama and Uruguay will be part of the first “Newsroom & Business Transformation Program” in Latin America. After the successful launches in Asia and the Middle East last year, WAN-IFRA is expanding the programme to the Latin American region, with the support of the Facebook Journalism Project. 

WAN-IFRA Women in News Expands In Southeast Asia With Launch In The Philippines

2021-09-06. WAN-IFRA’s Women in News (WIN) programme announces its expansion in Southeast Asia. The programme brings its one-of-a-kind career training for women journalists and editors to the Philippines, following successful launches of the Leadership Accelerator in Vietnam and Myanmar last year.

Passing of Jacques Saint-Cricq, first French President of Ifra in 1981

2021-08-27. It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Jacques Saint-Cricq. He joined Ifra’s Board of Directors in 1978 to succeed François-Régis Hutin (Ouest-France) and became its first French President in 1981.
