Catarina Carvalho is the Founder and CEO of Mensagem de Lisboa, a community news startup in Portugal. She was a Visiting Fellow at the Reuters Institute and is the former Executive Editor of the Portuguese newspaper Diário de Notícias. During her leadership at the paper, she oversaw its transition to a digital-first brand, with the print edition now only available on Saturdays. She started her career in journalism as a reporter, covering a number of areas for several national titles, before moving into leadership roles.
