Fabian Heckenberger is the Managing Editor and Senior Editor for AI at Süddeutsche Zeitung, where he leads the newsroom’s strategy team with a growing emphasis on the journalistic applications of Generative AI (GenAI). His team is responsible for coordinating editorial initiatives and projects designed to enhance SZ’s success in acquiring and retaining digital subscribers. Fabian previously spearheaded the development of Süddeutsche Zeitung’s first digital paid content product, the digital edition, and was instrumental in creating innovative digital formats, including pioneering journalistic storytelling pieces. He was also a member of the team that published the Panama Papers.
