Barnaby is Deputy-Editor-in-Chief at Neue Züricher Zeitung (NZZ) in Zurich, Switzerland. Before being appointed in September 2024, he was Head of NZZ Visuals.

During his media career, he also worked as Head of Data Journalism at Tamedia in Zurich (2018-2020) and as a Data and Innovation Jounalist at Tagesanzeiger and Sonntagszeitung in Zurich as well as being a technology reporter at Sonntagszeitung for many years.

Barnaby supported the Medienausbildungszentrum in Luzern, Switzerland, as Co-director of Data Journalism.

He holds a degree as graduate of the School of Journalism at Columbia University.
