Akanksha Saxena is an editor with Deutsche Welle’s Asia Desk and a roving storyteller with 15 years of journalism experience. From major international newsrooms—the BBC to TRT World, and now DW—she has brought powerful narratives to global screens, whether through longform documentaries or sharp investigative reports. Her work has earned her a glittering lineup of awards, including a Webby honor, two golds at the New York Festivals, the World Media Festivals, WAN-IFRA, and the Laadli Media Awards.
A firm believer in the power of knowledge-sharing, Akanksha also trains emerging and mid-career journalists with DW Akademie and CFI in the One Health approach, environmental reporting, and mobile journalism. She’s a seasoned media and conference host, and currently wears two new hats as an ICFJ Health Innovation Fellow (’24) and a UN Foundation Fellow (’25).
When she’s not chasing leads or deadlines, you’ll find her hopping cities in search of cultural stories, scribbling observations in her notebook, or savoring the next best local dish.
