Bhanupriya Rao is the founder and editor-in-chief of Behanbox, a digital media platform for gender journalism in India. Behanbox centers the voices of women and gender diverse persons through in-depth and evidence based storytelling. She also trains journalists and civil society activists on gender issue and data journalism. Behanbox is one of the ten startups in the first cohort of Google News Initiative Startups Lab India program.
