Christine Buhagiar is AFP’s director for Europe since 2015. She studied at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and the Centre de Formation des Journalistes. She covered French current affairs for several years for AFP before joining the London bureau where she acted as news editor during the Blair years. Returning to Paris she led the creation of a competitive AFP video production that would stand out from its competitors in a media environment characterized by an increasing demand for images. After spending 15 years developing the video service, Christine was appointed Europe director. She has been active in the fight for neighboring rights EU directive. While ensuring AFP could provide a comprehensive coverage of the war in Ukraine, she has developed AFP’s participation to several EU funded programs focusing on innovation and the fight against disinformation.
