Cordula Schmitz attended the Axel Springer Academy, followed by various positions at WELT and the in-house incubator at Axel Springer. She later transitioned to Gruner und Jahr, serving as Deputy Editorial Director for Brigitte Digital and Barbara Digital. Subsequently Schmitz became Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Stern.de. In 2021, she moved to Funke and joined Abendblatt, where she has been Editor-in-Chief Digital since April 1, 2025.
