Cristina Tardáguila

Cristina Tardáguila is a Senior Program Director at the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and the founder of Agência Lupa, the largest fact-checking organization in her country, Brazil. Tardáguila studied Journalism at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and got her master’s degree in Madrid (Spain). In 2017, she added to her resumé an MBA on Digital Marketing, and is now considered one of the strongest Latin American media entrepreneurs. As a reporter and/or an editor, Tardáguila has worked for O Globo, Folha de S.Paulo, Globo.com and revista piauí. She has also published three books: “A Arte do Descaso” (in 2016), about art heist, “Você foi Enganado” (2018), about presidential false claims, and “Tempestade Perfeita” (2021), about the growth of fact-checking. Between 2019 and 2021, she was the associate director of the International Fact-Checking Network and the head behind the #CoronaVirusFacts Alliance, the largest collaborative project ever put together by the fact-checking community.
