Ulrike Handel is a board member and business leader with more than 25 years extensive experience in media and digital companies.

She most recently served as President News Media Europe and Marketing Media of Axel Springer SE. Prior to that role, she was the Chief Executive Officer of Dentsu International (Germany and DACH); before that, Dr. Handel served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of publicly listed ad pepper media International N.V. where she led the turnaround of the group and multiplied shareholder value. In the period from 2000 – 2011 Dr. Handel held leadership positions in Axel Springer, including the role as Head of the classifieds group, and member of the management board at WELT Group.

Dr. Handel currently sits on the Supervisory Board of Compugroup Medical (Germany), the Administrative Board of SPARK Networks (USA, NASDAQ) and Schibsted ASA (Norway)and the Advisory Board of Kontora Family Office (Germany).

Dr. Handel has received several awards for her work – including the Emotion Magazine Award “Women in Leadership” and “Ad Age: Women to Watch Europe “. In 2015, she received the “Manager of the Year” Award from the female leadership organization “Generation CEO”.

Dr. Handel studied media management and economics in Hannover, Germany and Madison, Wisconsin. In addition, she holds a PhD in media studies from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
