Emelda is a Zambian journalist, communication specialist and media trainer. She is currently acting Managing Editor with Zambia’s lead newspaper – the Zambia Daily Mail.
She has 20 years’ experience in the media Industry of which 17 years has been with the Zambia Daily Mail where she has risen through the ranks and held various portfolios including Sub–editor, Assistant Gender Editor, Deputy Sunday Mail Editor, Sunday Mail Editor and Editorials Editor.

Emelda Libanga is Women in News 2010 alumnae and ambassador. She was part of the first cohort of the WAN-IFRA Women in News Programme (2010-2014), which focusses on addressing gender parity in media leadership and content. She has served as WIN Steering Committee Member, Country Lead for Zambia and Sexual Harassment and time management trainer.
Emelda is a member of the Graca Machel Trust – Women in Media Network of 34 highly experienced journalists from 15 African countries aimed at amplifying voices of women and children in Africa. She is also part of the International Training Programme (ITP) on Media Regulation in a democratic framework 2019 Cohort (a 14-month training programme aimed at building capacity to enhance media development and self-regulation). She is a member of the Zambia Media Women Association (ZAMWA).

She holds a Bachelor of Mass Communication degree from the University of Zambia and an honours degree in Media Management from Rhodes University. She is currently studying for a Law degree at the University of Zambia.
