Jennifer Wilton

Editor in Chief, Die Welt, Germany

Jennifer Wilton is the editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Die Welt since 2022. She earned a Magistra Artium degree in Hispanic Studies, History, Cultural Studies, and Media Studies from Berlin, Münster, and Madrid. While studying, she contributed as a freelance journalist to various German newspapers and magazines, including Tagesspiegel, Spiegel, Die Zeit, and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, as well as serving as a guest editor for the Spanish daily, El País.
After completing a traineeship at Die Welt from 2006 to 2007, she served as an editor of the feature section. She founded the new “Titelthema” section, which focused on investigative reports and cover stories, and became its head. She built up the “Digital Storytelling” department in 2013 and went on to head the “Investigation/Reportage” department in 2017. In January 2022, Jennifer assumed the role of editor-in-chief of Die Welt.
