Jim Egan is the lead author of the Digital News Report at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, Oxford University. He was Chief Executive Officer of BBC World News and bbc.com between 2012-2020 before leaving to become Chief Investment Officer of Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF). Prior to taking up his position at Oxford he was part of the executive leadership team at FT Strategies, the media consulting arm of the Financial Times in London. Earlier in his career he worked in the public sector, as Director of Strategy at Ofcom (the UK’s communications regulator) and as specialist media adviser to the UK Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
