Adeyeye Joseph

Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, Punch, Nigeria

Adeyeye Joseph is the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Punch Newspapers, Nigeria’s leading print and digital media group. With over 25 years of experience in journalism and media management, he has led the organisation’s expansion, strengthening its digital reach, newsroom capacity, and long-term commercial sustainability.

As Executive Director of Digital Operations, he architected Punch’s digital-first strategy, launching a dedicated video production unit and significantly growing digital audience and revenue. Previously, as Editor of The PUNCH (2010) and Saturday PUNCH (2007), he led Nigeria’s highest-selling newspapers and spearheaded award-winning investigative campaigns exposing corruption, human rights abuses, and extrajudicial killings. As Editor, he played a transformative role in reshaping the publication, pioneering some of its most widely read sections, including Punch Metro, AM Business, Healthwise, and Gadget Smart. His earlier career includes roles as Chief Correspondent, features writer, and beat reporter at THISDAY, Nigeria’s leading upmarket daily.

A two-time Nigeria Editor of the Year and Columnist of the Year (2011), Joseph holds a BSc in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University and an MSc in Digital Journalism from Middlesex University, UK, where he is completing a PhD examining digital disruption’s impact on public-interest journalism. He is an alumnus of Lagos Business School and Cranfield School of Management, and a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria.
