
She is the Founder and Director of La Silla Vacía, the pioneering digital news outlet covering politics, power and public affairs in Colombia. She holds a law degree from Universidad de los Andes and a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University in New York. She was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 2006 and a Senior Associate Member (Fellow) at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, in 2019. Juanita is the author of several books, including País de Plomo (Country of Lead), a collection of chronicles on Colombia’s armed conflict, and 10,000 Hours at La Silla Vacía: Journalism and Power in a New World.
