Katia Murmann

Board Member, Ringier AG, EqualVoice, Switzerland

An experienced media manager and board member: Katia has been Chief Product Officer and Editor in Chief for major publications in Switzerland and the Global Media Unit of Ringier AG. She is driving digital transformation and builds bridges between newsrooms, product, technology and data. She is Member of the Board of EqualVoice, the Board of Directors of Farner AG and Scope Content. As a co-founder of the initiatives Edit-a-thon (which aims to bring women’s biographies to Wikipedia) and EqualVoice (which aims to increase the visibility of women in media coverage), she is committed to increase the visibility of women in media and society.

She completed several months of executive training at the University at Berkeley, Harvard Business School and Insead Fontainebleau.

Murmann graduated from the German School of Journalism in Munich and studied political science, communication as well as oriental studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and the University of Teheran. She worked as an intern at Spiegel TV, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Tages-Anzeiger before starting as a reporter in the news department of Blick in Zurich in 2004. From 2006 to 2012 she worked as a reporter and head of foreign news at the newspaper “Der Sonntag” and the “Sonntagszeitung”. In 2013, she returned to the Blick Group as head of news at SonntagsBlick and member of the editorial board. From August 2016 to February 2017, Katia Murmann was Editor-in-Chief ad interim of SonntagsBlick, from 2017 to 2021 editor-in-chief for Blick.ch. and from 2020 to 2021 Head of Digital and Product. She has been a member of the Blick Group’s Executive Board since March 2020 and was Chief Product Officer of the Blick Group and the Ringier Global Media Unit till December 2022.
