Marium Chaudhry is a journalist based in Pakistan for the past 14 years. She has been affiliated with Pakistan’s biggest news network Geo News as a senior executive producer, launching and producing many programs for the network as well as heading the channel’s general election transmission 2018 and 2013. She is currently the founder of The Current, Pakistan’s fastest growing independent digital news platform, catering to Pakistan’s millennials. The platform has amassed more than two million followers in four years and is the first news startup in Pakistan to win the Google News Innovation Challenge 2020 to launch Pakistan’s first membership program, training students and young professionals on digitising Pakistan. She is a Google News Initiative Newsroom Leadership Program Fellow, a Fulbright-Hays Scholar and a journalism and international studies graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
