Olle Zachrison is the Head of News AI (Senior News Editor, AI) at BBC News, where he leads initiatives to accelerate the responsible use of AI across newsrooms. The aim is to augment journalism and boost productivity for one of the world’s largest and most recognised news organisations. Before joining BBC News, Olle spent nine years at Swedish Radio, the nation’s public broadcaster, where his roles ranged from Head of the National News Department to News Commissioner and Head of AI and News Strategy. His extensive editorial and digital experience includes guiding the transformation towards digital-first newsrooms. He worked as a business journalist and TV presenter before moving into management and innovation roles in Swedish media. In 2020, he co-founded the Nordic AI Journalism Network with Schibsted’s Agnes Stenbom, facilitating collaboration between journalists and technologists, and contributed as a co-author to the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) notable AI reports including work on public service algorithm projects.
