Rafael is an information graphics and data visualization editor with over two decades of experience in local, national, and international news media. Since 1999, he has focused on interactive and multimedia visual storytelling for newsrooms such as The Sunday Times, El País, and El Mundo. His work has covered major global events, ranging from terrorist attacks and international conflicts to national and international elections and large-scale sports events, including World Cups and the Olympic Games.

He currently leads the Information Graphics and Data Visualization area at Prodigioso Volcán, where he combines editorial direction with hands-on work in data-driven journalism. He was a partner at the agency until this year and continues to collaborate as a consultant, providing visual information solutions and training for organisations including the EU Joint Research Center, WHO, Greenpeace, BBVA, Inditex, Coca-Cola and Repsol.
