Ryan Y. Kellett is a journalist and media executive studying creators as the 2025 Nieman-Berkman Klein fellow for Journalism Innovation at Harvard University. Most recently, Ryan was VP of Audience at Axios Media where he helped scale Axios Local to 30 cities across the U.S. including launching an in-house creator team. He previously was Senior Director of Audience at The Washington Post, where he spent 11 years building international digital readership and the subscription businesses. Along the way, Ryan covered three U.S. presidential elections and contributed to high-profile projects like the police shootings database and opioid files. He and his teams have won multiple Edward R. Murrow, WAN-IFRA, Webby, and Online Journalism awards. Ryan is also a coach for Blue Engine Collaborative, an instructor at the Harvard Extension School, and a board member of the Online News Association.
