Sannuta Raghu

Lead, AI working group-News & Journalism, Scroll Media India

Sannuta Raghu leads Scroll.in’s AI projects for news and journalism. Scroll’s AI Working Group is currently testing a URL-to-video tool (capable of output in English and Hindi) they’ve built over the last year, with funding from Google. They are also building two LLM-based research tools, which allow for natural language querying of Scroll’s award winning journalism as well as large datasets and documents from credible government sources. With LLMs, they are also building a POC for an autocorrect tool, which will suggest corrections to an article copy based on Scroll’s in-house style guide. Scroll’s editorial team is also conducting experiments to test for accuracy on summarisations, SEO, multi-language translations and bias detection. Sannuta also leads the drafting of Scroll’s Use of AI policy, a living document, which is put together with inputs from editorial and engineering colleagues.

Sannuta is an award winning journalist and a television producer with over 13 years of experience. Since 2016, she has built, shaped and scaled Scroll.in’s digital video newsroom – creating news and news+ products for platforms with 6 million to 200 million users. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Konkani and Gujarati (and has a working knowledge of Tamil, Urdu and Bengali).
