Simon Owens is a Strategy Manager at The Irish Times Group, where he works closely with senior leadership to define and drive strategic initiatives across key areas including AI adoption, new content formats and emerging business opportunities.
He has played a central role in shaping The Irish Times Group’s approach to AI, having project managed the organisation’s original AI taskforce and led the development of its strategic framework encompassing governance, organisational design and strategic priorities.
Alongside this, Simon has been actively involved in a number of AI projects across the Group, including the development of a personalised content feed for subscribers and an AI-assisted content tagging system.
Prior to moving into strategy, he worked in subscriptions and reader insights, an experience that gives him a practical understanding of audience behaviour and business performance that continues to inform his work today.
