Srinivasan Ramani is Deputy National Editor/Senior Associate Editor with The Hindu newspaper. He anchors the paper’s explanatory, data, opinion and science journalism teams and sections, while also serving as an editorial writer.

Under his leadership, the teams produce several signature products: “Data Point”, a nearly-daily feature that uses data to tell analytical stories; Text & Context, The Hindu’s daily offering in explanatory journalism with contextual features on technology, academic concepts, books, and vocabulary; the Science epaper pages; interactive data-driven articles on thehindu.com; related videos and podcasts; and ebooks. The teams also contribute substantially to the fortnightly publication The Hindu Surf and Dive.

He holds a PhD in comparative politics and political thought from Jawaharlal Nehru University and trained as an engineer, working in India’s software consulting industry before transitioning to a career in the humanities and journalism.
