Vibeke Fürst Haugen became the first female Director General of Norway’s public broadcaster, NRK, on April 22, 2022.

Her career at NRK began in 1995 as a program creator and producer, with a decade spent in the youth and children’s department, culminating as Head of Department. She later focused on organizational development and innovative content creation before becoming Senior Vice President of the Content Division in 2013, overseeing diverse programming at NRK’s Oslo headquarters.

Haugen holds an MBA from the Norwegian School of Economics and degrees in French and Latin from the University of Oslo and Université de Pau. A former co-commentator for France Television during the 1994 Winter Olympics, she also lived and studied in Paris in the early 1990s.
