AI Futures Lab APAC

From experimenting to creating AI-native products

Expression of Interest

An executive programme for news and media organisations ready to move from AI adoption to product development with editorial and commercial impact.

Artificial intelligence is no longer simply an exploratory phase for the news media industry. The challenge now is to turn emerging capabilities into products, workflows and sustainable operating models.

AI Futures Lab 2026, led by WAN-IFRA in collaboration with OpenAI, will support 12 media organisations across the APAC region through a six-month process to design, develop and prepare AI-native solutions for deployment, aligned with their editorial and commercial goals.

This initiative is designed for organisations that have already made meaningful progress in AI adoption and are ready to take the next step: bringing innovation into real operational scale.

The focus of the programme: moving beyond experimentation towards the development of products and capabilities with practical application across editorial, product, business and strategy.

Alongside strategic and technical support, the programme also includes additional benefits designed to accelerate the development of selected initiatives.
