While covering tech in Brussels he became increasingly focused on data and starting in 2019 became involved in building AI models to differentiate between news articles in a more qualitative way, not just on engagement metrics such as clicks. He thinks that sorting through the web-based on smarter, qualitative signals will become increasingly important as AI is used to create huge portions of what we see and read.
