Zaragoza is the captial of Spain’s Aragon region. It is located midway between Madrid and Barcelona, and is an easy 60-90 minute train ride from either.

El Palacio de Congresos de Zaragoza was designed by the prestigious architects, Nieto Sobejano, for the Muestra Internacional EXPO ZARAGOZA 2008.

Air – International arrivals

Plan to arrive at Madrid airport(MAD) or Barcelona airport(BCN) as there are very few direct flights to Zaragoza Airport (ZAZ).

From Madrid airport

Take a taxi or the Cercanías (commuter train) to the train station, Madrid Puerta de Atocha.

  • Taxi: costs around 30 euros for the trip which takes about 30 minutes
  • Cercanías (commuter train): the ticket is free with your AVE (high-speed train) ticket. You must acquire the ticket in the machines using the “combinado number” (a number on top of your AVE ticket). The trip is about 30 minutes.

After, take the AVE to Zaragoza. AVE tickets must be purchased in advance at RENFE. Trains from Madrid to Zaragoza typically run hourly and take +/- 80 minutes with the average price of 40€ one way.


From Barcelona airport

Take a taxi or the Rodalies (commuter train) to the train station, Barcelona Sants.

  • Taxi: taxi costs around 30 euros, the trip is about 30 minutes
  • Rodalies (commuter train): the ticket is free with your AVE (high-speed train) ticket. You must acquire the ticket in the machines using the “combinado number” (a number on top of your AVE ticket). The trip is about 30 minutes.

After, take the AVE to Zaragoza. AVE tickets must be purchased in advance at RENFE. Trains from Barcelona to Zaragoza typically run hourly and take +/- 90 minutes with the average price of 40€ one way.
