A) Workshop on Benchmarking newspaper production based on KPIs

This workshop provides necessary insights to help you understand how a performance compares with similar organizations or near similar organizations and print centres. B) Workshop on Reporting Environment and Climate Change

Date and time: 14-September 2022, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Agenda: 

  • Why the environment matters
  • How environment and climate change coverage is different from other stories
  • Data and where to get it
  • Discussion within break out groups on story ideas, data gathering, presentation
  • Presentation of story ideas by each group, and their discussion by moderator and other groups on levels of interest, presentation, accessibility discussion

Trainer:

Omair Ahmad is the Managing Editor, South Asia, of The Third Pole, which reports on the transboundary river basins of the Himalayan region. He also edits a newsletter called Environment of India. He has a background in international politics, and has worked as a political advisor and journalist in various capacities, with a particular focus on the Himalayan region. His last book was a political history of Bhutan.

As the South Asia editor of TTP, Omair has led training workshops with Indian journalists, as well as regional policy trainings workshops focussing on the Indus Basin, in collaboration with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) based in Kathmandu. Omair has also done a media engagement workshop for the senior leadership of ICIMOD (which provides the data to the IPCC on the Hindu Kush Himalayan region) helping them in turning their research into accessible literature for the South Asian media.
