Artificial Intelligence in the News Media Industry

“2024 marks the year that generative AI became a mission-critical imperative for the enterprise.” This statement by Menlo Ventures is an indication that enterprises are shifting from experimentation to execution with AI now embedded at the core of many companies’ business strategies. The early stage venture capital firm added that AI spending surged to six fold to $13.8 billion last year compared with 2023.

There is no doubt that Artificial intelligence (AI) is making a major impact on all businesses around the world and our industry is no exception. AI is impacting everything we do from content creation, creating new services and tools, to marketing to fact checking. Over 87 percent of publishers that responded to WAN-IFRA’s World Press Trend survey said that they intend to invest in AI and automation in the next 12 months, with 25 percent giving AI the highest possible ranking.

The media landscape fired up by AI led innovation is undergoing a rapid transformation.

A lot has changed since the last AI Forum in Jakarta last year. Use cases have multiplied and there are lots of creative solutions that have been implemented by news publishers all over the world involving news production, distribution, and monetisation, presenting both opportunities and challenges.

Get up to date with the latest AI trends, ideas and use cases by joining us at the Jakarta AI Forum on the 4th of August 2025 as we dive into the latest developments in AI.

Listen to the latest groundbreaking technologies and applications, case studies, and prototypes through presentations, discussions and panel deliberations. Hear about:

This Forum aims to equip participants with simple, concrete and practical ideas about how they can implement AI in their organisations.
