Journalism in the Age of Pandemics 2.0

Temasek Foundation - WAN-IFRA Journalism Programme

Nomination Closed

Introduction

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, there has been a rapid acceleration of science, technology and innovation around the pandemic, vaccines, and in anticipating future threats to public health. The goal of this programme is to ensure already experienced journalists and newsroom leaders build on the immediate and long-term lessons from two years of a global pandemic and turn those into actions for sustainable future coverage of health, science and major events that may unfold in the future.

The programme will focus on solutions orientated journalism and making pandemic reporting relevant to everyday audiences. We’ll also analyse the dangers of misinformation and how science journalists can create robust processes to counter bad actors. Our aim is for participants to learn about what has worked best for journalists and news organisations covering the pandemic and use that to both iterate on those concepts and further build on their own experience in order to prepare participants for what might lie ahead.

The programme is offered as part of the Science in the Newsroom initiative of the World Editors Forum, the network for editors within WAN-IFRA.
