Local Day 2025
Join us for the first ever Local Day in Copenhagen on November 17. This is the only international event in Europe 100% focused on local journalism and its transformation – it’s entirely for and with local media professionals and experts.
The focus is editorial and practical. We are bringing together newsroom and business leaders who work every day to turn strategy and innovation into action.
Local Day has three main themes:
AI: A Local Media AI Lab
AI veterans from two of Scandinavia’s most innovation driven media groups – Amedia and Schibsted – will share best practice and lead discussions around how to approach working with AI, how to build and deploy AI tools and how to use AI to drive editorial and newsroom results. The Local Media AI Lab will be a unique chance to gain insights around AI in the context of local journalism specifically.
Driving change: What local newsrooms are doing to reinvent themselves
This session includes the case of Nordjyske Medier, presented by Editor-in-Chief Kevin Walsh, who is switching off its printing press to drive digital transformation in the newsroom.
Meeting your readers: How newsrooms build trust and loyalty with locals
We’ll hear from local newsroom leaders who consistently bring their journalism into the community. By proving the value of their work to local readers, these newsrooms anchor their brand with the people they serve.
Local Day includes a workshop with breakout discussions as well as plenty of opportunity to connect with fellow local newsroom professionals and strategists. This is the first international event of its kind – specifically designed for those shaping local journalism and leading their teams through innovation.
