This year’s Newsroom Summit will be guided by the following strategic themes:

 

– AI in the media industry:  AI has swiftly moved from experimentation to integration in newsrooms — optimising workflows and reshaping how journalism reaches audiences. But is it unfolding the way we expected? As we reflect on a few years of rapid adoption, this session will explore where we are now, what’s working, and how AI is truly impacting content, operations, and engagement.

– Successful strategies to attract young audiences:  Younger audiences expect more than just news — they seek authenticity, transparency, and representation. They value diverse voices, interactive formats, and content that aligns with their values and identities. To engage them, publishers must move beyond traditional storytelling and deliver platform-native experiences. Trust is built through openness, relevance, and a sense of community — today’s young readers want to be part of the conversation, not just passive consumers. But who in the media industry truly fits this description — and what can others learn from their example?

– Defining your brand:  Are you mastering the art of building your own personal brand to promote your products? Which is the best strategy you should follow to best promote your brand? Insightful ideas will be presented.

Caring for the newsroom – from leadership to safety: Successful editorial strategies begin with resilient, well-structured teams. This session explores how leading newsrooms are transforming their internal organisation and leadership approaches to foster innovation, collaboration, and premium content that drives engagement. But transformation also means responsibility. As threats to journalists — both online and offline — continue to grow, how can newsroom leaders proactively support their teams? We’ll examine how to identify risks early, implement safer practices, and build a culture where journalist wellbeing and safety are treated as strategic priorities.

– Breaking through the subscription plateau:  As growth slows, how can newsrooms become active partners in subscription success? We’ll spotlight innovative strategies from global publishers that are not only attracting new digital subscribers but keeping them engaged for the long haul.
