In the past two years we have faced immense challenges in the newsprint market. With Covid pandemic and supply chains being disrupted and recently with a war in Europe. Ruud van den Berg will look at these challenges and give us some insights on what might be ahead.
The issue of procurement is one of the biggest issues facing newspapers. First we had the Covid pandemic with enormous challenges to the supply chains and directly following comes a war in Europe. In this session we will have procurement executives tell their stories.
During turbulent times a consistent approach to responsible sourcing is even more vital. UPM buys products from thousands of B2B suppliers globally, and managing the vast variety of suppliers and their impacts is a challenge. UPM has established standards for our suppliers and we expect our suppliers to promote these requirements in their own supply chains. When it comes to emissions, those occurring in our supply chain are also our responsibility. More and more companies are committing to Net-Zero, meaning that they have to manage and reduce also their Scope 3 emissions.
