Artificial Intelligence is reshaping journalism, but it is not replacing it. While AI enhances efficiency, journalism remains fundamentally a human profession—rooted in ethical oversight, editorial judgement, and investigative rigour. AI is a tool that, when used wisely, strengthens the newsroom rather than diminishes the role of journalists.

This year, our focus is on fostering a ‘hum-AI-ne’ news industry—where human-first and human-last must be the guiding principle in integrating AI tools into our daily journalism.

The pursuit of truth is the foundation of our work, and no algorithm or large language model can replace the responsibility journalists bear in uncovering and reporting reality.

In this edition, we explore key areas shaping the future of AI-assisted journalism, with a commitment to preserving the integrity and purpose of our profession:

  • Less Grind, More Reporting – AI-powered newsrooms: the top applications in use today. Smart tools for smarter newsrooms. AI at the editor’s desk. The latest tools redefining workflows.
  • Blueprints for the Future – Media architecture and how to design an AI- powered newsroom. Newsrooms reimagined: the smart way to build with AI, where design meets journalism. The AI Architecture Guide.
  • Breaking News, Not Your Composure – How to do live news. The fast lane of journalism: live reporting done right. The Live News Playbook.
  • Truth Over Trends – News media is not social media. Prioritising facts over followers. What should our relationship with platforms be?
  • From Clicks to Cash – Sustainable business models for funding quality journalism. How to fund the truth: business models to keep journalism alive.

News That Pays.

By exploring these themes, we reaffirm our commitment to a news industry that remains human-first—where AI serves as an ally, not a replacement, and journalism remains truly ‘hum-AI-ne.’
