Perhaps the toughest and most underestimated job at any newspaper company is that of the circulation manager. Even the word “circulation” (definition: the act of passing from place to place or person to person) conjures up some old-fashioned notion of movement.

But circulation is a part of the newspaper organisation where best practice can have a dramatic impact on the fortunes of the newspaper company.
