A theme emerges from the data of an industry challenged by the appearance of new competitors from the digital world, as well as massive new opportunities to extend newspaper content acrosss these new digital channels. Newspapers globally are seizing the opportunity and have become major players in delivering digital content and increasingly profiting from digital revenues.

Newspapers were 400 years old in 2005 and in 2006 continue to develop as a massive global media.
