Rachel Middlewick works as a consultant specialising in commercial and content strategy, as well as organisational design to deliver sustainable business growth.

She has an array of business leadership experience across a variety of content organisations. From launching and running owned media brands within the magazine space for Haymarket Media Group, to holding positions as Strategy Director within content marketing agencies (Hearst Content Agency and The River Group), where she created and led multi-platform content strategies for FMCG brands, retailers, membership and sporting bodies.

Latterly, Rachel was hired into PA Media (the UK and Ireland’s News Agency) as Chief Commercial Officer with the brief of transforming the existing sales-led commercial team into an integrated, multidisciplinary commercial operation.

Central to her award-winning achievements at PA was leading delivery of an end-to-end data strategy that helped the business understand key trading and product metrics and identified customer personas that informed new, segmented customer journeys. She developed an optimised marketing strategy in line with the findings.

The transformation was hugely impactful. Not only did she exceed revenue expectations on both new and retained business, but Rachel also worked with the Editorial and Product teams to break down silos and create a business-wide set of operational metrics that, when adopted, created a more engaged culture within the business.

Since becoming a consultant in 2022 she has worked as part of a team to integrate three newsrooms within one African news media business, creating new operational structures, workflows, key performance metrics and a comms strategy to underpin the transformation.

Rachel continues to work with a variety of content creating businesses to devise commercial and content strategies that effectively engage their target audiences. She holds a qualification in Organisational Design from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a mini MBA in Marketing.
