Andrew Morse

Andrew Morse is the president and publisher of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In that role, he has oversight of the business and editorial operations of the south’s largest newspaper. Morse is leading the AJC through a period of investment and growth, designed to transform the storied, 155 year-old newspaper into a modern media company.

Prior to joining the AJC, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer for CNN Worldwide, and as the Head of CNN+. In that capacity, he oversaw a global portfolio of businesses that included CNN.com, CNN Business, CNN Audio, CNN Underscored (the network’s e-commerce product), as well as CNN’s direct-to-consumer efforts. In addition, Andrew was the executive in charge of the CNN en Español cable network and digital platform. As Chief Digital Officer of CNN, Andrew oversaw editorial, programming, product development, technology, and business operations.

Under Andrew’s leadership, CNN became the world’s #1 source of digital news and information, attracting more than 200 million unique users each month. Morse also co-founded Great Big Story, a short form video company, which earned 6 million You Tube subscribers.

Morse was also responsible for leading the development and launch of CNN+. He oversaw the efforts to build the business plan, secure funding, recruit and onboard hundreds of employees, develop the programming slate, build the application and bring the product to market.

Prior to assuming responsibility for the global digital business, Andrew served as Executive Vice President for Editorial for the CNN/US television network and global digital platforms. In that capacity, he oversaw all domestic newsgathering teams and bureaus, the digital editorial organization, and the Washington Bureau and television programs.

Before joining CNN in 2013, Andrew served as Head of Bloomberg Television in the U.S., where he oversaw editorial, programming, business operations and development for the 24-hour business news network. Morse revamped the programming slate, developed anchors such as Stephanie Ruhle, Sara Eisen and Emily Chang, and built the largest business-focused digital video operation. Andrew also produced the network’s first-ever Presidential debate and spearheaded 24/7 coverage of the 2012 election.

Prior to Bloomberg, Andrew spent 15 years at ABC News in a number of executive and TV production roles. He served as Executive Producer for Innovation, overseeing the network’s digital business, and during that time oversaw the teams that launched ABC News’ first iPhone and iPad applications. In addition, Andrew spearheaded Facebook’s first media partnership, joining forces around a series of live broadcast integrations and specials that culminated with Emmy-nominated streaming coverage of the 2006 midterm election.

Before assuming responsibility for ABC’s digital portfolio, Andrew served as Executive Producer of Good Morning America’s Weekend edition and as a Senior Producer for World News Saturday and Sunday.

Earlier in his career, he worked as a Bureau Chief, Producer and assignment editor based in London and Hong Kong. During his time overseas, Andrew reported and produced from over 40 countries. Andrew spent more than a year covering the war in Afghanistan and another six months covering the war in Iraq, and his producing assignments took him to North Korea, Yemen, Mt. Everest Base Camp and on board a 125-foot catamaran attempting to break the Trans-Atlantic sailing record.  While serving as ABC News’ Asia Bureau Chief, Andrew spent significant time in China, Japan, South Korea and India, covering those nations and managing the network’s business relationships.

Andrew led ABC News’ coverage of major global events such as the Bali bombing, the 2003 Tsunami in South Asia, the Haiti Earthquake, the Arab Spring in Cairo, the earthquake, Tsunami and nuclear meltdown in Fukushima, Japan, and the Royal Wedding of William and Kate.

During his time at ABC News, Andrew worked with some of the network’s most high-profile talent, including Peter Jennings, Ted Koppel, Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters, Bob Woodruff and David Muir.

Andrew is also an endurance athlete, having completed several marathons and half ironman events, as well as a full Ironman and a 50-mile ultramarathon.  He is married with two children in high school and splits his time between Atlanta and New York City.
