Dr. Klemens Berktold has been Managing Director for the printing business at Funke Mediengruppe since 2011. In this function, he is responsible, among other things, for Funke’s own newspaper printing plants in Hagen, Braunschweig and Erfurt as well as the outsourcing of printing services.

In recent years, Dr. Berktold has also been intensively involved in the topics of “digital transformation” and the development of new business models related to the print business. For example, the print division has been operating e-commerce platforms for the production and distribution of newspapers with a circulation of 1 or more since 2017 (www.zeitungsdruck-online.de, www.smartpaper24.com). Since 2019, a full service for the production and distribution of personalised newspapers has been offered under the product name SMARTPAPER ONE2ONE.

Before joining Funke Mediengruppe, Dr. Klemens Berktold held positions as managing director of various printing and prepress operations at Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA as well as in the field of strategic management consulting.
