Golden Matonga is Chairperson for the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter, a non-profit that promotes press freedom and the right to expression. He works as Investigations Director for the Platform for Investigative Journalism (PIJ), a non-profit centre for investigative journalism, and is a member of the International Consortium for Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). He has been involved in groundbreaking ICIJ reporting projects and his work has appeared in the New York Times, Financial Times, The Continent, Mail & Guardian, EFE, among other international publications. He has received several awards for journalism excellence for articles exposing corruption, bad governance, and human rights abuses. He is a 2023-24 Hubert Humphrey Fellow at Arizona State University.
