Mylene Sylvestre is the Publishing Director at Guardian News & Media Ltd, responsible for the group’s newspapers and magazines performance, managing the operations and sales of all the Guardian print products globally and leading on the group print strategy.
Mylene has over 25 years experience in the media industry. Having moved to London after completing her Business and Management masters degree in Paris and Marseille Kedge University (France), she started her media career in magazine publishing in London at EMAP. She then joined Guardian News & Media Ltd where she built a successful career in various leadership roles over the years in Marketing, Circulation, Operations and in the International Division.
She is now heading the Print Publishing Division, running the Guardian newspapers and magazines and is responsible for their long-term financial viability and operational sustainability. She’s a board trustee at two media industry non-profit organizations: ACE and Newstraid. in 2021, she co-founded the professional network, “Women of Colour Global Network (WOCGN)”, an organisation dedicated to supporting professional women of colour in the workplace globally.
Over the last few years, she has been heavily involved in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work conducted at the Guardian, with a focus on race and gender representation.
She’s a passionate believer in the relevance and importance of print for newspapers organisations and is a fierce advocate of sustainable print publishing practices and strategies.
