Naja Nielsen is the BBC News Board executive responsible for digital transformation across BBC News. Overseeing a multidisciplinary cohort of editors, journalists, and digital specialists in the UK and internationally, Naja leads BBC News’ relationships with the BBC’s commercial arm, BBC Studios; big tech corporations and third-party platforms. The Digital Channel and Weather teams constantly innovate, ensuring BBC News provides solutions for today’s digital consumers as audience behaviour constantly evolves. She is also a non-executive member of the board for TV2 Denmark. Before joining the BBC, Naja was the Chief Journalism Officer at Orb Media, a digital investigative start-up in Washington, DC. She built up her career in her native Denmark, where she worked as a radio and TV presenter, in various editor roles and eventually as the Head of News for DR, Danish Broadcasting. In 2014, she was a visiting scholar at Stanford University studying what legacy media should learn and what to fear from Silicon Valley.
