The Managing Editor of the world’s largest daily newspaper, Riichiro Maeki is a seasoned journalist who has covered Japanese politics for over 30 years. After graduating Hokkaido University in 1987, Maeki joined the paper and became a political correspondent. After experiencing some management posts internally, Maeki currently heads the reporters of the mega-paper as Managing Editor from June of 2021. Under his watch the paper won the Newspaper Association Award, Japan’s highest journalism award, in 2022.
