Challenge of the Climate Crisis

Temasek Foundation - WAN-IFRA Journalism Programme

NOMINATION IS CLOSED

The global climate crisis poses a bigger challenge for the world than even the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Journalists will need to help audiences make sense of the changes around them – from extreme weather events, to new technologies and sustainable business approaches.

To do so, journalists will need a good grasp of the climate crisis and the science behind it,  and the skills to tell the story in a compelling way.

This six-module, live, online course, delivered by experienced editors and journalist trainers, will equip participants with the skills to understand, read and interpret the science and journals.

Participants will learn how to deal with the challenges faced by reporters covering environmental issues – from misinformation and conspiracy theories to spin and vested interests. What content works with audiences and how best to tell the story? What tools can you use to engage your readers?

Over the course, our editors will help answer these questions and guide you through the development of a personal reporting project.

We are inviting editors to nominate candidates in their newsrooms who will benefit from these new skills and knowledge.
