AFRICA'S PREMIER DIGITAL NEWS AWARDS

All entries must have been published between January 2021 and December 2021.
Entries submitted in previous years cannot be submitted in 2022, unless you are able to clearly define developments in the execution of your work and definite results have occurred since the last time it was received.
Each year the World Association of News Publishers aims to recognise and honor the achievements of publishers around the world with our Digital Media Awards. Our goal is to cater to the evolving times of the news industry by presenting new categories to reflect the changing demands and challenges in all the different regions and to champion innovative and inspiring digital media work for the year.
We want to help you build valuable credibility and industry recognition with other news publications across your region as well as on a global scale during our World Digital Media Awards. Entering your work gives you the chance to celebrate and honor the hard work and incredible achievements your team produced in the last year and lets you be seen as a leader in the front of the news industry.
Entry submissions will be open until midnight (CET) on 20 May 2022.

This year, we have 10 categories – 6 categories will go head-to-head and compete against other regions for the prestigious title of a Digital Media Award Worldwide Winner 2022. The in-person ceremony will take place at the World News Media Congress (28 – 30 Sept. 2022) in Zaragoza, Spain. While 4 categories are exclusive to the African region and launched specifically for our African members to showcase their inspirational projects and compete against other news publishers for the continental awards.
Every year we select a new panel of judges who epitomize the best of their respective fields and have the experience and expertise for the year’s set of categories. They are senior leaders from different news publications, advisors, and industry experts from across your region and represent the full scope of the continent. Our goal is to ensure a high standard of integrity and an unbiased view for our judging process.
Each judge is allocated entries from 1-2 categories which match their areas of expertise.
A fee of EUR 50 + VAT per submitted entry applies. Payment can be made only by credit card. We will send you an invoice together with an authorization form and an online payment link. Bank Transfer would only be accepted within three working days and on a case-by-case basis.
Registration: ENROLL IN OUR PLATFORM in less than two minutes. Consider that you will receive an email to confirm your account.
Submission: Following the completion of your registration online, a personal link to upload nominated materials will be sent to entrant’s email within three working days.

Yes, you can submit different projects for the same category.
Yes, you may submit the same project to different categories provided that you are able to justify and explain why they qualify for the different categories.
Yes, you can change your entry on or before the submission deadline on the 20th of May 2022. All change requests must be emailed to amanda.garcia@wan-ifra.org
An entry may be withdrawn for any reason up on or before the submission deadline on the 20th of May 2022. All withdrawal requests must be emailed to amanda.garcia@wan-ifra.org to confirm eligibility of a refund. All withdrawals after the 20th of May 2022 are non-refundable.
The winners will be announced in a virtual ceremony for Digital Media Africa on July 12-13 2022.
Syndicated material or campaigns that are not specially prepared for your company are not eligible. WAN-IFRA reserves the right to disqualify any entry that fails to conform to the rules. Disqualified entries will not be judged. Fees for these entries will not be returned. WAN-IFRA is not responsible for materials entered in the competition. You will also be disqualified if you have not paid the entry fee.
Please do not include confidential information in your entries.
Participants must grant WAN-IFRA the full rights to retain and use, free-of-charge, any images or material from the contest for publication in books, exhibitions, websites, or for educational and promotional purposes.
